Lots more movement - week 21
As it draws to the close of week 21 I have to update the blog as the little one is moving around a lot more now. Every day there is movement at different times. Some days it seems quite vigourous and other days things are a little quieter and subdued.
It feels like the little one is squirming around at times and moving in a more pronounced way at other times. I am not sure when they start kicking so cannot tell what all these slightly different movements mean yet.
The uterus is moving up the abdomen and I think the top of the uterus is about level with my belly button. The movements are also being felt further up now. A couple of weeks ago the little moves were felt right in my lower abdomen, but now it is just below the belly button. Sometimes it moves after I eat, other times before I eat and I wonder if it is hungry. It moved when I was watching a film and some loud music was on the film. Maybe all this is coincidence, but I think it is just a very clever baby!
We have the next scan on Tuesday next week and I can't wait to see our baby again. It seems like such a very long time sice we saw it at 13 weeks. Hopefully it will decide to be quite active so I can try and associate the feeling of movement with what it is actually doing.
Will be great for Nick to see too as I am not sure he has felt it move from the outside yet. I really want him to feel it so he can get a sense that his baby is alive inside me. It must be strange for him for me to keep saying it is moving and him not to be able to associate with this. I want all of these experiences to be shared really, but that is easier said than done when everything is inside.
I have felt great this week. Not too tired and not too emotional, which is in contrast to the previous week where I had a couple of days that I just felt exhausted and a bit teary. The bump is expanding week by week and I stil really like it. I am wearing maternity stuff all the time now. It is so lovely and comfy even though it does not look so exciting. But who cares. I had to go and buy some maternity bras at 38C which is a record for me. These are definitely not sex, but comfy which seems to be the most important thing right now.
I am getting some upper back ache but I think that is mainly due to sitting in one position all day.
We have one more week in Borough before moving to Wimbledon so have some sorting out to do and perhaps some last visits to pay to favourite haunts such as Borough Market, our Indian and Chinese restaurants and maybe even the delightful Elephant & Castle! News is dominated by a foiled attempt to blow up 10 aircraft over the Atlantic, or over US cities, all departing from UK airports. Seems pretty scary but no doubt we will not really find out what the real story is anyway. Pandemonium at airports and no hand luggage allowed on the planes.
