Big break from blogging - week 27
The last 6 weeks or so have been pretty busy and the blog has been left to rot a little. We moved house from Borough to Wimbledon on 21st August and had all the obvious sorting out to do associated with that move. We've also rented our flat out in Borough which was a fairly continuous admin process, but fortunately we found tenant within 2 weeks and they are now firmly settled into the flat.
Last week, Nick and I went to the Languedoc region of France for a week. Very relaxing, but sadly the weather was pretty grim. We started with 2 lovely days of sun, and then it turned to grey and wet with flood warnings. A big shame as it is a picturesque area and also our last holiday as a couple for some considerable time. Nonetheless it was just great to be away form the never-ending cycle of work which has been going on for 5 months plus and meant I was getting pretty down about work and everything in general.
The return to work has been fine and I think I just needed a break. Bump is progressing nicely and is definitely more football shaped now. Lots of movement from the little one at times and last week it woke me up a few time in the night with its special night time disco moves. There are some definite patterns to the movement - before and after lunchtime, and around dinner time, then when I go to bed. The moves are getting stronger too and cannot be ignored. All still really good to feel though and it makes me feel comforted and very happy to think of the baby moving about. Nick has felt it lots mow so that is great.
Reading up a bit about the newborn phase and month 1 - just to give me a small idea of what to expect. Does all sound very hard, but also quite unbelievably amazing.
Have moved hosptials and midwife care from St Thomas' to St Georges and have my first appointment on Monday. Will have to put some serious thought into what type of birth to go for - normal hospital birth, birth pool or home birth. Just not sure at the moment. Will go and have a look round the labour ward to see what it's like.
Am very hungry a lot of the time but have not suffered from heartburn yet so can still eat lots of food without bad consequences. Long may that continue! Emotions are sometimes all over the place with alomost some feeling of depression, but maybe that was just work. Then other times I feel really happy. Mostly I feel happy but maybe 1 day a week or 1 day every 2 weeks I feel really down, upset and tearful. More of a rollercoaster than usual.
Am swimming again and getting out for a 30 min walk every other day if possible now that I am tubing to work rather than walking. Try to remember the stretches whenever I can but feel physically pretty good, just a little tired going up lots of stairs.
